March 3, 2018: Cool, California. In one of the most well known and competitive 50K’s in America, the 29th running of the Way Too Cool 50K was a wet and sloppy challenge to say the least. In her first race since signing with Nike Trail Elite, G20’s Brittany Peterson took it on full-force and battled not only to a second place finish in 3:46:43, but the fifth fastest time ever clocked on the course (and this in muddy conditions! Megan Roche-2015-3:41:56) Britt moved into second place just after Auburn Lake Trails (Mile 21) ahead of third place finisher Elizabeth Ryan (California) and closed the gap on Ladia Albertson-Junkans (Washington) from 5 minutes to 3 minutes with 2 miles to go and the duel began. Ladia took the win in 3:44:01, Brittany 2nd in 3:46:43, and Elizabeth 3rd in 3:56:26.
